Spine care

Representative example

Relief from back and leg pain.

When a nerve in the spine is pinched, pain can travel down a leg and disturb walking and sleep. Easing the pressure can bring relief.

About this kind of case

What this involves.

A nerve in the lower back can become pinched — by a slipped disc or by narrowing of the space around it — sending pain, numbness or weakness down a leg, and making walking and sleep difficult.

Many people improve with non-surgical care: medication, physiotherapy and targeted injections. Where these are not enough, taking the pressure off the trapped nerve can relieve the leg pain.

Spine care begins conservatively wherever it is safe to do so, and surgery is considered only when it is the right step. The approach is explained at each stage.
